A Bit About Me
I have been in the horse business my entire life. I began riding
ponies as a little girl. I started showing over fences by age 6. I
showed hunter jumpers through grade school. In junior high I began
competing eventers under the guidance of Gretchen Heinerz. At this
time I was also taking race horses off the track to resell as jumpers.
In high school I purchased my first quarter horse and went to train
with Jamie Watson (multiple world and congress champion). I showed the
AQHA all around events through my high school years. Under Jamie's
expert guidance I acquired multiple points in numerous events including
showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, western pleasure, and trail
class.
During High School I began starting colts for Roger 'Mouse'
Gibson and Kathy Burnette, who had the #1 and #2 barrel horse in the nation at that time. I worked very hard for Mouse and Kathy for
five years and they allowed me to ride some really good barrel horses. It is
because of my time with Mouse and Kathy that I was able to learn so
much about barrel horses as well as the health and care of horses.
Under their guidance I was able to sit on numerous horses and learn how
to solve numerous problems that occur with barrel and young horses. I also
learned the proper way to start top barrel horses, giving the horse a
solid foundation on which to build a winning athlete.
After high school I attended The Ohio State University and majored
in Animal Science. During my tenure at The OSU I worked at the Vet
Hospital on numerous research projects. During my summers I went home
to work for Jamie Watson and continue to improve my skills as a
trainer, starting colts, teaching lessons, finishing show horses, and
working the show string. During the school year I lived and worked at
The OSU Equine Facility where I foaled numerous mares. I graduated
from The Ohio State University in 2005 with a bachelors of science in
agriculture.
After College I worked for The Ohio State University Equine
Facility as the Assistant Manager. I directed herd health management,
taught interns medical and training techniques, assisted with teaching
the behavior and training class (where students start a colt under
saddle) and assisted with teaching the reproduction class. I collected
stallions, foaled mares, and started colts. During this time I
continued to take outside training horses from customers.
I hope I have the facility for you and would love to do business
